THE ECHO
by C.C. Miller
'Twas a sheep not a lamb
That strayed away in the parable Jesus told,
A grown-up sheep that strayed away
From the ninety and nine in the fold.
And why for the sheep should we seek
And earnestly hope and pray?
Because there is danger when sheep go wrong:
They lead the lambs astray.
Lambs will follow the sheep, you know,
Wherever the sheep may stray.
When sheep go wrong,
It won't take long till the lambs are as wrong as they.
And so with the sheep we earnestly plead
For the sake of the lambs today,
For when the sheep are lost
What a terrible cost
The lambs will have to pay.
May 2011 Ensign pg.39
I can't stop thinking about this poem recited in General Conference last session from Elder Richard J. Maynes in his talk entitled ESTABLISHING A CHRIST-CENTERED HOME. As I've worked hard to apply these principles taught in his talk, we've been blessed with greater direction. It is amazing to see the changes in our home. I was so surprised how quickly my children learned to pray! They know who they are praying to and with just a little practice their reverence during prayer has changed dramatically. I am also so excited that we are coming on our 7th consecutive week of holding Family Home Evening. I don't know why we didn't do this earlier. I look forward to this night every week now- and making it during a time where Adam can be home has really blessed our family and made this time so special!
What an important task Adam and I have to be parents of these amazing little boys! We have a lot of responsibilities and A LOT to learn! I am thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who continues to direct our paths, who reminds us the answers are written in His words, and as we study the scriptures all things can be made known to us. I am thankful and SO GRATEFUL for a living Prophet and apostles who continue to counsel us in the ways of the Lord!
I hope you enjoyed the poem and maybe it will stick in your mind like it has mine! :)
Xoxo- Gloria
