The Divine Role of Women

HELP FOR HUMP DAY
Visiting Teaching Message

This quote from Julie Beck, Relief Society President helped me realize something, she says: “I have a testimony gained from pondering and studying the scriptures of a plan of happiness given to us by our Father in Heaven. That plan has a part for His daughters. We have the female half to take care of, and if we don’t do our part, no one else is going to do it for us. The half of our Father’s plan that creates life, that nurtures souls, that promotes growth, that influences everything else was given to us. We can’t delegate it. We can’t pass it off to anyone. It’s ours. We can refuse it, we can deny it, but it’s still our part, and we’re accountable for it. There will come a day when we will all remember what we knew before we were born. We will remember that we fought in a great conflict for this privilege. How do we meet this responsibility? We daily put our energies into the work that is uniquely ours to do.”

This quote struck me because it wasn't until this that I caught on, finally this thought ran across my mind. Women are actually the dominating gender. I know it is not true, but there should be NO reason for women to feel like they NEED to go and do the working part, the providing part, the man part. YES, Women CAN do both part!! They keep showing the world it is true. Why is it that so many women want to go out and do the working thing. I am a victim of this. I keep having the fight of working next year or not. I still feel like I should do it (for time of needs ) but at the same time everything in our future is so "confusing" it may not actually help anything. I do know if he is working we will be provided for when we do our parts BUT when I am subbing I LOVE being there. I know it won't be permeant but I would love the experience to have my own classroom. Sorry, this entry isn't about me, but by teaching full time I won't have time and energy to do "my part".

NEVER will a man say "I need to work, and have the babies, and clean the house, and do all the bills, and the shopping". NEVER!! They know there role and that is PLENTY enough for them. ( Plus, it's impossible for them to have babies so really there is no way the can play both roles.) YES, women can- but we are only accountable for our half. Are we "LIFTING WHERE WE STAND" when it comes to our greatest calling here on earth? Why isn't it enough for some of us?

Kisses to Feel Good Girlie Movies

I am not much of a movie person. It really has to be something I would like to see or it has to be at the right time. I love any kiddie movie and I will watch them way before adult movies. I will NOT watch horror movies. I will NOT watch racy comedy movies. I get a sick feeling and panicky feeling when I watch sappy make me cry the whole time movies. EXAMPLE: P.S. I Love You. I can't take it. I do like action/ suspense movies but the "bad guy" always makes me feel sick (even in those kid movies). My favorite type of movie is the feel good girlie movies.

When I was in high school and college if I felt bad or down I would turn on Legally Blonde. She just made me feel like I could be sweet, have a good personality, and innocent demeanor. I wanted the appeal and I wanted that femininity she had. I still do. I loved watching it because the ditzy girl that is funny to look at and talk about has a brain, and a heart and she stands with confidence. ( The part I loved most!)

Anyways- this weekend I went to see CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC. I loved it. It had some "eh" moments like the mannequins (crazy-head) but it was charming, exiting, and had a hottie with an accent. I felt like I related and I learned things!! I really think some girls, some of my bestfriends have this problem. Before I had a family I was kind of like her. I remember using 3 different cards trying to pay for something.. it was SHOES almost all the time.

I loved it when she was compromising about "NEEDS" and "WANTS". It was just a fun feel good girlie movie! She has great energy, positiveness, girliness, and confidence. If you want a cute easy pick me up or a cute girly laugh go check it out! Oh, ANd who hasn't picked out their emergency credit card in a frozen ice block -- I mean come on, NO one has that much discipline.. hehehe!!

P.S. Look at their hands, I had this perfected in high school! Pure feminine stride!!

Question: Why is it that newspaper and magazine companies always make good girlie flicks. Example: Never Been Kissed, 13 Going On 30, 27 Dresses, How to Lose a Guy in 10 days, and The Devil Wears Prada?

I Love it When He Thinks

..and you gotta love his hair

I Have an Announcement to Make!

'Addy did his laundry and washed his check! Only one month later.. Remember This?! Ha Ha Ha...

Sadly this time our W-2 wasn't in the way to save it from getting completely destroyed! He's having a bad day because he also just called and told me he locked his keys in his car. (Which also happen about this time last month!)

- Happy Valentine's Day Babe!

Something New.

On Facebook I left a status about not loving my new hair-do. It was just getting so long and boring to me. I LOVED having my straight across bangs but no one else did, so i grew them out. Then I needed something new so when Jo-jo got his first hair cut I took off all my layers. ( go see the"before- before" pic). I did not like it but if straightened it was do-able. I just found myself washing it and putting it up in a pony tail. I figured if you put it in a pony everyday- you've got a bad hair cut. So, On Wednesday my darling husband and I had our Valentines date getting hair cuts. I really wanted him to try to grow it out but he just a got a 1 on the sides and a clean up. I kept showing him the kind of styles I liked in the books but he would say mean things about them.
Alas- It took the lady 3 times where she had to keep going shorter or a different way until I was like- Yes! That's KIND- OF like what I was trying to explain. It was really hard having Adam there because I wanted to please him- just like the bangs things. I've got serious problems. Some people love it, some people hate it. It will always grow back!

Lift Where You Stand

HELP FOR HUMP DAY
Lift Where You Stand, President Uchtdorf read it

President Uchdorf speaks to the priesthood and reminds them to power within magnifying your calling. He quotes Presiendt Benson when he says " The Lord expects each of us to have a calling in HIs Church so that others may be blessed by our talents and influence".

The story I wish to remind us from his talk is that of John Rowe Moyle, and his example of magnifying our calling. This way we can get motivated, not allow ourselves to take our callings lightly or spend our days "seeking the honors of men" and become to busy to serve the Lord with all our might, mind, and strength.

John Rowe Moyle was an accomplished stonecutter and left his home in England to Salt Lake City to help work on the temple. He lived outside of the city and woke up at 2 a.m. to walk 6 hours everyday and wouldn't leave work until 5p.m. One day he was kicked by a cow and it broke his leg. The only option he had was to amputate the leg. His family strapped him to a door and with a bucksaw cut his leg off. It began to heal and once he could sit up he craved himself a wooden leg & foot. It was very painful to walk on but he didn't give up. He eventual could make the 22 miles journey back to Salt Lake City to continue the work. "JOHN DID NOT DO THIS FOR THE PRAISE OF MAN. NEITHER DID HE SHRINK HIS DUTY, EVEN THOUGH HE HAD EVERY REASON TO DO SO. HE KNEW WHAT THE LORD EXPECTED HIM TO DO". Along with the thought of not receiving recognition Pres. Uchdorf reminds us of the 2,000 Warriors. We do not know the names of these young boys individually but together they "will always be remembered for honesty, courage, and the willingness to serve."

We should love our callings and what the Lord has asked us to do. He knows where is best for us Every calling is an opportunity to serve and grow. Many times we may feel inadequate in our simple callings or overwhelmed by the extensive amount of duties we are responsible of but we have to remember that we are qualified and worthy to serve where ever the Lord wants us. He has called us to a certain postitions and wants us to lift where we stand.

In conclusion, let us strive to be "faithful and true to the end, each one devoted to give our all to the cause of Zion and bound by covenant to stand close together and lift where we stand!"

My Jobs

Recently, I have been job crazy and I have felt like I need to help more somehow while Adam is finishing school. I have been trying to sub more and I have even resorted to wanting to work in a restaurant again somewhere. Adam told me to join him at Chick-fil-a. I think it's hilarious! Am I willing to jump into a uniform again, and learn new thing even when I am WAY over qualified with a degree that I can't use right now. Anyways- Here we are to 8502 Memory Ln. July 5th 2001, I was 15 and I walked to Red Lobster which was at the main street near my neighborhood. It took about 20 minutes. I was dressed super cute and I applied for my first job. It is fun remembering the jobs I have had, but I can't believe I wore some horrible outfits! I have to say, I loved my jobs!! I was good employee! I would have to say my favorite job was at the Nissan dealership right next to my short experience at the Navy recruiting station in Cali. I was good at it, I liked to dress up, and I loved my own personal space.
My Resumee:

Tuscany Italian Restaurant, seater- 2 months

Middle School Music

i heart middle schoolers. I subbed the past 3 days for a music class. On Wednesday she had her 4 choir classes copy major's somethings on blank staffs. She said the two 6th grade classes will have a book and should be reading. I didn't think that was fair, just because I'm musically challenged they had to read. Then Thursday and Friday she had nothing, when I asked her about it before she left for all-states she said, It'll be like a study hall. My attitude in extracurricular classes is so different from core classes. This is their escape time, there break from vigorous work. I am not a music teacher but I did bring some music to listen to. My little treat to them! I am not an easy walk all over teacher, I am nice but I have structure and I think the kids recognize that and appreciate that!
THURSDAY
My Choir classes wanted to show me there talents so we decided to have an American Idol day. In each class I had the license plate match for a challenge. (see if you can solve it!) They had the option to read a book, finish homework, or sit quietly. Too many Ipods were out, I'm not usually that sub but I DID just look the other way. Everyone else played Scattegories with me!
The 6th graders came after lunch and after my HUGE planning time. They are hyper and can be out of control, and I was getting tired. However- they know how to obey there teachers, it's because they are afraid of getting hit. (I always wondered why these southern kids were much more well behaved than students in Utah, its because of capital punishment, and it broke my heart hearing the teachers at the lunch table! *details in future possible post*) When I speak they obey and it had to stay that way. On this day we would try to start something and they would loose control and we couldn't continue. It happened too many times and I felt like I lost control the last period on Thursday. I was not going to let that happen again. After the 6th graders I was so glad to go home.
FRIDAY
The Choir classes were excellent! Those 7th and 8th graders were such a delight. Those who were brave enough to perform had great voices and once they grow into their voices they will be even greater! It was a real treat seeing so much talent! After our talent show we played family Cranium! Everyone participated and everyone stayed on task.
The 6th graders had a much better day! It was much more structured than the day before, I made sure to set specific directions and of coarse they followed. We also played Cranium and had a blast. The only thing about 6th graders are they are still babies with TONS of emotion, tattling, and bullying. Since things were planed and organized the day went by much faster and I really enjoyed all the classes!
ABOUT ME
I was on day-quil the whole time. Once I stepped into my house and ALL night I felt like trash, runny nose, stuffiness, and soreness. Each morning I had an OJ, took those pills and I was glowing for the rest of the day. All my pain went away while I was in the classroom. I am so glad I studied education. I loved college, I love teaching, and I love those kids.
