It was done with good intentions!
I was not trying to be malicious.
*My great husband worked in mud and gunk all summer and now works in grease and oils. He needs his clothes washed about every other day.We have a little "stinky storage box" near his closet to store his clothes until he needs to wash it in the morning. He doesn't want to mix them with our other laundry, which is such a generous thought!
However- For some reason there is ALWAYS clothes in places that he doesn't want to mix in. He just makes stacks of clothes and when I am cleaning up at night I just transfer those random stacks to the hamper. I don't care if there clean or not, they get placed somewhere so there not everywhere.
Well, twice in 6 months I thought I would be a nice wife and do his work laundry so they would be ready for him when he needed to go to work. This would be such a wonderful surprise for him and he won't have to feel rushed to get them clean.
Last time I did this he left his work phone in the pocket and it was completely ruined. You'd think I would check for these things, but I didn't. Today his stinky clothes was not in his "stinky box" it was just thrown all around it, and I didn't want J playing in it, or around it, so I just picked everything (including his coat) and hauled it down to the laundry room. I thought it would be so nice to get his coat washed and nice and warm because it has been so dreadfully cold lately. So, I dropped all his stinky clothes in the washer and I took off a belt I saw on one of the pants, and got them started.
I told Adam he needed to switch his laundry over and I have never seen him this mad before. He freaked out! HIs paycheck and W2 was in his coat pocket, and another pair of pants had a belt on it still. I didn't care to check, I figured you don't keep those things laying around everything has a place and this time it was the washer. Maybe its my fault I didn't check and I don't wash my clothes all flipped right side out. (another dumb thing). You just don't leave important things laying around in stinkiness. Dang- Its not like I did it on purpose!
What is your worse washing machine story??!?

Don't feel too bad. I forgot to check Curtis' pockets one time and he had a blue gel pen in one of them. Needless to say, I ruined several sets of clothes (mostly his nice work clothes) in the process. I'm sorry that it was much more valuable than a pen (both times), but you learn and you move on. :)Good luck in the future. :)
I had a similar experience. We had just got back from a trip and I pulled out some clothes Marc had in a backpack inlcuding a pair of jeans. So I washed them and then found out his phone was in them. Same thing happened to me, But fortunately, Marc pulled out his phone a month later, and it worked!!! So I guess mine was not as bad as yours, but just like you, I have never seen him that mad before.
Oh, don't feel too bad, Gloria. You were trying to do the right thing and something nice for your husband. I have washed some important things of Jason's in the washer and he is notorious for leaving his clothes lying on the floor instead of in the hamper. My thing is, I am not your maid and if you leave it on the floor, it's getting thrown in the hamper and washed. If I forget to check the pockets and your PAYCHECK is in there... that's not my fault. If you can throw it on the floor, you can take out your paycheck. Not to make Adam be the bad guy, but I get irritated at Jason when he gets mad at me for things like that... as if I'm his maid. I tell him if he doesn't like how I do the laundry, he can wash his own clothes. :) But, of course, I keep on doing it.
I have totally lost count of the things I have washed in Jakes pockets. I have even washed his suit pants (yes, the dry clean only kind) and totally runined them! Jake and I have come to an understanding that HE is 100% responsible for checking his pockets. I wash the clothes how I find them. If the are inside out I wash them inside out. If there is stuff in his pockets, he is dead, becasue it is going to get washed. If he leaves a belt on his pants, they do not get washed. I know it sounds harsh, but I have to do all the work with the laundry he can atleast do that. Also, if he puts his clothes in a certain place I know not to touch them. Sense we agreed to this the laundry is going pretty smooth. He is even getting really good at hanging clean clothes up or putting the dirty clothes in the hamper, or at least very close to it. Hang in there! I could also go into a funny story about giving his best shoes (pretty new too)and pants to DI on accident. Fun times, fun times!
